Welcome to my teacher page! My name is Shandi Silk and this is my 11th year teaching 7th grade English Language Arts. I hail from York, PA and have a bachelors degree in Secondary Education/English and a masters degree in Educational Leadership. Before relocating to Madison City Schools, I taught 7th grade ELA at Spring Grove Area Middle School in Spring Grove, PA. I am currently the sponsor for LMS Student Council, co-sponsor of the brand new LMS Student Newspaper, and I teach Composition Workshop. 

Prior to teaching, I served in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician, Petty Officer Third Class. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, writing, spending time with my family, cats, (Milo & Crazy) and Great Dane/Great Pyrennes dog (Bellatrix). I am the proud parent of a 16 year old son, a 10 year old daughter, and one year old twins (Callie Claire and Sabrina Selene.) 

I love watching students grow as readers and writers. A firm belief of mine is that everyone is a reader--they just haven't found the right book yet. The same holds true for writing. I encourage all students to enter a variety of writing contests and some may even be published poets before 8th grade!
