Dr. Tomi Garner
I was born and raised into a family of educators. I went to college in pursuit of a degree in the biomedical field, but changed my major during my second year. I love the career path that I have chosen because I am constantly learning and evolving. My students take me on new adventures each day. As the years progress, I hope to continue learning new and innovative ways to educate my students.
This is my 15th year of teaching. I have taught 7th grade science, 8th grade science, Survey of Life Science, and STEM. I will be teaching Design & Modeling (Project Lead The Way), Medical Detectives (Project Lead The Way), and CodeSpace- Introduction to Python this school year. I have been awarded Liberty Middle School's Teacher of the Year (2015-2016), Madison City's Secondary Teacher of the Year (2016-2017), the Alabama District VIII Secondary Teacher of the Year (2017-2018), and inducted into the Jacksonville Teacher Hall Of Fame (2017). In 2019, my STEM students were winners of the Garver Chain Reaction Challenge, a national STEM challenge. In addition to teaching, I coached for 13 years. During that time, my dance teams won numerous awards including state, regional, and national titles.
