Ms. Tomi Garner

I was born and raised into a family of educators.  I went to college in pursuit of a degree in the biomedical field, but changed my major during my second year.  I love the career path that I have chosen because I am constantly learning and evolving.  My students take me on a new adventure each day.  As the years progress, I hope to continue learning new and innovative ways to educate my students.

I began teaching in 2006.  I have taught 7th grade science, 8th grade science, and Medical Detectives (Project Lead The Way).  I will be teaching Design & Modeling (Project Lead The Way), STEM, and CodeSpace this school year.  I have been awarded Liberty Middle School's Teacher of the Year (2015-2016), Madison City's Secondary Teacher of the Year (2016-2017), the Alabama District VIII Secondary Teacher of the Year (2017-2018), was inducted into the Jacksonville Teacher Hall Of Fame (2017), and my students have won the Garver Chain Reaction Challenge (2019).  In addtion to teaching, I coached for 13 years where my teams consistently placed nationally in the top 10, winning national titles three years in a row.
