This is my third year to serve as Reading Specialist for K-3 at Mill Creek. I love being able to partner with our teachers and students. I have always had a love for reading! I served as Instructional Partner at Mill Creek from 2015-2017. I really enjoyed fostering relationships and working with the talented teachers in our building. I had the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten at Mill Creek for 4 years. There is never a dull moment in Kindergarten! My favorite part of teaching Kindergarten was being able to witness the growth my students made each year. There are no words to describe the feeling you get when you listen to a student read for the first time. I also have experience teaching 1^st grade and 5^th grade. 

I received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 2009. I am certified to teach grades K-6. I graduated from Arkansas State University in May 2011 with a MSE in Educational Theory and Practice. 

I married my husband, Cyrus Swearingen, in 2008. We both share the love of education. He teaches history at James Clemens High School where he is also the Offensive Coordinator for the football team. We are blessed with two precious boys! Riley is a 1st grader at Mill Creek. Parker will be 3 years old in July. 

When I am not teaching, my favorite hobby is scrapbooking. I love to swim and have a pool in my backyard :) I enjoy reading, traveling, church, the beach, DISNEY, and spending time with my family. I love college football! War Eagle!
