Mrs. Shemeaka King
Greetings!
I am so honored and delighted to be your child's 2nd-grade teacher this school year!
My name is Shemeaka King and I graduated from Alabama A&M University with both my Undergrad and Master's degrees. I have also completed graduate work in Instructional leadership. I started my teaching career in 2nd grade, at a Christian private school where I taught for two years, 1999-2001. I began teaching for Madison City Schools in the Fall of 2001. I taught kindergarten for 12 years, from Fall 2001 to Spring 2013. In Fall 2013, I began teaching 2nd grade. I am starting my 23rd year of teaching with Madison City Schools and my love and passion for educating increases each year. I enjoy spending time with my family, being active in my church, learning, reading, and exercising.
I am extremely honored to be named the 2020 Teacher of the Year! To be honored with this title for something I absolutely LOVE doing feels absolutely AMAZING!
In short, my educational philosophy is that every child is unique and requires LOVE and patience when being taught. I believe that teachers should Value their students by building authentic relationships with them. I believe teachers should be Lifelong Learners, be willing to try new things, Overcome Obstacles in order to grow, and strive to incorporate Effective and Engaging teaching strategies. I also believe that a positive school culture, one that is culturally responsive, plays a vital role in making sure that children have the best school experience ever!
I absolutely LOVE teaching and I am looking forward to an outstanding school year!
