Mrs. Becca Wilson

I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master of Science degree in Child Development with a concentration in Child Life.  I worked as a Child Life Specialist for almost 10 years serving patients diagnosed with cancer, burn victims, children having surgery, and their families.

I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2013.  I taught for 7 years at Mill Creek Elementary (1st grade and 3rd grade).  I am excited to be the Reading Specialist at Horizon Elementary School.  I obtained National Board Certification in 2018.

My husband, Trav, and I live in Madison with our two daughters, Alex and Lucy.   I am a huge college football fan, and love the Florida State Seminoles.  My husband is an Auburn graduate, so I also cheer for them each year.  I love to read, go to the beach, and watch college football.

I love children and believe that every child has value and the potential to learn.  It is my goal to be a positive influence for all  students and instill in them a passion for life-long learning.  I believe in creating a space where all children feel safe and secure and free to share their ideas and opinions.  I believe that reading is the foundation for all learning and incorporate reading across all subjects.  I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help students succeed.
