I am so excited to begin a new academic year and to get to know all my new families. As we begin this journey together, you will often hear me say that it is alright not to know but always try your best each and every time. Also, I am a big believer in P.M.A (Positive Mental Attitude) and reflection of individual learning.
In 2018, I began the role as AART (Academic Acceleration Resource Teacher) at Mill Creek Elementary School. I truly love this new role and the Project M3 math curriculum. The M3 math curriculum units are designed to promote deeper thinking and encourage students to act as practicing professionals by emphasizing verbal and written communication.
I began my teaching career in 2002 with Madison City Schools. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Athens State University and a Master's in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. Throughout my professional career, I have had the honor of being named as the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) State Finalist, Mill Creek Teacher of the Year, BP Teacher Recognition, and nomination of Disney Teacher of the Year.
Teaching does require a lot of work and effort. I love teaching, my students and making a difference in lives. My desire is to become a more effective and better teacher. I know we are going to have a GREAT year!
On a personal note, I am originally from Kentucky. I love the beach and hanging out at the pool with a good book. I have a wonderful husband, Tim. Also, I have a precious lab named Lucy whom I love very much.
