Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Melissa Butler
In January 2016, I was given the opportunity to begin working as a SPARC counselor at Heritage Elementary School. (SPARC: Strength, Potential, Aspirations, Resourcefulness, and Confidence.) I am excited that I will be able to continue interacting with elementary students through a DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) grant. I will once again be connecting with Military/Impact Aid students and new students as they transition into Heritage. These students and I will discuss their personal, social, and academic needs (for example, students whose parents are deployed, students who need improved study skills, etc.). I will also coordinate eS2S (an elementary Student to Student Ambassador group).
Before coming to Heritage, I served as a counselor at Discovery Middle School for 13 years and taught and/or counseled for 12 years in the Madison County School System and in Monticello, Georgia. I have a B.A. and a B.S. from Auburn University, an M.Ed. from Alabama A&M University, and an Ed.S. from the University of Alabama.
My schedule at Heritage this year will be two half-days each week: TBD. If you have a specific need that you would like for me to address with your child, please email me at email@example.com.
Again, I am delighted to be back at Heritage and look forward to getting to better know your child and your family. Let's have a great school year--GO RAMS!
