Greetings everyone! Welcome to my webpage!

This is my first year at Journey, whooooo!! I teach Math 6 and Math 8, and I am so excited for your children to be in my classroom this school year!

I grew up in Fayette County, Alabama on 80 acres of land with plenty of woods to explore, fish to catch, lightning bugs to chase, and vegetables to harvest with my 3 siblings and 3 cousins. I was a HUGE band and choir nerd my whole life. I played the trumpet in my high school marching and concert bands, and I also sang in both the concert and show choirs. One of my favorite memories was getting to play the role of Maria in The Sound of Music during my senior year! 

When I was in the fourth grade, I knew I was going to be a teacher; I never wanted to be anything else! In 2005, I graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education.  For the next seven years, I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 

In 2010, I began pursuing my master's degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama. After finishing that degree, my husband decided to whisk us off to sunny Naples, Florida, where he led worship for a church just two miles from the beach!! For the next four years, I was blessed to serve as the Assistant Head of School at an independent school, The Village School of Naples.

In 2016, we made our way back to Huntsville, Alabama, and I worked for one year teaching 3rd grade in Madison County Schools. During the 2017 school year, I was an educational specialist for Scantron, and I was in charge of professional development for North Alabama educators.  While serving as a teacher in Huntsville City Schools for 3 years, I taught 6th-grade ELA and 7th-grade math.

My husband (Stuart) and I have been married for 20 years!! We have 3 amazing children: Alissa graduated from JCHS and is studying to be a speech pathologist at WKU, and Lucas is a rising 12th grader at JCHS (he loves track and choir). Kaleb is a rising 5th grader at Heritage (he loves to make people laugh; he is my sunshine). Madison City is truly our home. 

Some of my absolute fav things to do: reading a book in the sunshine, dancing/singing/acting crazy, and cooking yummy food for my family. We love to hike, swim, and ride bikes together; I love to exercise!
