Ms. Janie Darby
Hi! I am Janie Darby and I am the fifth grade resource teacher. I have an extensive background in special education and behavior intervention. I began my career in education as a paraprofessional. While working as a para, I went to college for the first time at the age of 40 and obtained my degree in Collaborative K-6. Upon receiving certification in this field, I taught in the Lauderdale County School System until I promoted to District Wide Behavior Specialist. During this time, I obtained two additional degrees, a Masters and Educational Specialist both in the field of Instructional Leadership. I believe collaboration and communication are key components of school success. I am passionate about teaching and fully believe each child can learn and should be given the opportunity to do so. In my personal life I am mom to Emily (35) and Thomas (Forever 28). My son lives in heaven now. My daughter teaches 6th grade social studies. She lives in Harvest. I live in Madison. Some of my hobbies include solo camping, traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends. I play the piano and I love to journal.
