The Madison City Board of Education recognized the school system's newest National Board Certified Teachers at its Jan. 24 meeting.
Sixteen educators completed the rigorous NBCT process to earn this distinction. The additions bring to 58 the total number of NBCTs presently employed by Madison City Schools. For the second consecutive year, MCS had the highest number of new NBCTs of any district in Alabama.
The teachers were honored in a reception after the board meeting.
 The latest NBCTs are:
Sara Baragona, Stephanie Coker, Kylie Henriksen, Jane Herndon, Michael Merritt, Noel Newquist, Patrice O'Donnell, Amy Patel, Jessica Pinegar, Kerri Scroggins, Sara Stewart, Tosha Swearingen, Elizabeth Vaughn, Kathlene Wade, Rebecca Wilson.Leah Faris got her NBCT renewal.
