Members of the Madison City Board of Education were honored during their Jan. 25 Board meeting. The recognition comes during School Board Recognition Month.
Madison principals presented BOE members with small gifts in appreciation for their leadership and selfless service.
Superintendent Robby Parker led the discussion noting the dedication and countless hours they put in, all for no compensation. That was echoed by principals.

James Clemens Principal Dr. Brian Clayton was also recognized during the meeting.

Dr. Clayton was recently named Alabama Secondary School Principal of the Year and will represent Alabama in the national competition later this year in Washington, D.C. Mr. Parker commended Dr. Clayton for guiding James Clemens before it opened in 2012 into being a top performing high school today. "Dr. Clayton took it from dirt and created it as one of America's best high schools. Well done, my friend."
The Board also got a sneak peek of the Alice In Wonderland theater performance by the Columbia Elementary Drama Club.
The performance is Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. at Bob Jones High School.
