Madison Board Adopts 2017-18 Calendar; Bids Farewell to Dr. Fowler

The Madison City Board of Education has adopted the calendar for the 2017-18 school year. The calendar was revised after feedback from parents, teachers and board members from a previous proposal. Madison Teachers of the Year Honored During Alabama Education Week

Two Madison City teachers were honored Nov. 14 for teaching excellence.Thomasena Garner of Liberty Middle School is the 2015-16 secondary teacher of the year for MCS. Melissa Miller of Mill Creek Elementary is MCS elementary teacher of the year.The recognitions were at the annual Alabama Education Week luncheon honoring teachers of the year for area school systems, colleges and universities. Madison City Schools Honors Veterans For their Service and Sacrifices

Veterans tributes continued in Madison City Schools today with schoolwide assemblies at Liberty and Discovery middle schools and a program at Mill Creek Elementary.The honors come as America prepares to observe Veterans Day Nov. 11. The events capped a week of student-led programs honoring veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices.
