State law requires that students be 5 on or before September 1st of the new school year, to enroll in kindergarten. State law also, requires students be 6 on or before December 31st of the current school year, to enroll in first grade.
Due to the large volume of students that have not re-enrolled for Madison City Schools, the deadline has been extended until Friday, July 22. Re-enrollment by this deadline is mandatory for all returning students to the Madison City Schools system. Note: All registration and re-enrollment is done online using SchoolMint Online Registration. Madison City Schools began this new online registration system this year for new students, as well as re-enrollment for existing students. It replaces our old system of registering at our Central Office. The online registration for all grades followed a successful rollout of online registration for kindergarten. The new system is more convenient for parents and guardians and includes helpful download links for the required address verification, which is essential to maintain the integrity of student roles for the enture school district. Please use your student access code for SchoolMint for re-enrollment. Only returning students will have these access codes. Helpful tool: There is an address lookup to find the school that your child will attend. This link is found under the School Zones section. From there, you can click the Address Lookup link. Please note, all addresses will be verified.
Notifications: Once you have successfully uploaded and filled out the required fields and submitted your registration or re-enrollment, you will then be notified with an email or text message confirming receipt of registration at your zoned school. You will then receive another notification once our staff has reviewed your documents and verified your address. This notification will state “Registration verified.”
