The Madison City School's Board of Education adopted new elementary zone lines at their April 4th meeting. The new zone map is available under the "documents" tab at the left. It is the same zoning map that was presented at the Town Meeting on March 21st at James Clemens High School
Along with the new zones, the Board also approved a waiver option for current students who will be in the 5th or 6th grade next year. Parents may opt to have those students finish school where they are presently zoned. Parents would have to provide transportation, and the waiver does not extend to siblings in younger grades. Forms for requesting the waiver will be at your child's current elementary school beginning Monday, April 8th. Deadline for turning those forms in to your current school is April 18th. We need the forms quickly so we can begin our staffing for next year.
The Board also approved a recommendation that new subdivisions already approved by the City of Madison will follow the new zone lines next year. Any future subdivisions approved after the April 4th meeting will be assigned a zone based on available space.
We want to thank everyone for their input during this process. Rezoning is never an easy task. Now that zone lines are approved we will shift our focus to making the transition a positive experience for each and every child.
